OMG!!

So, I'm a senior in high school this year. That means I graduate in late spring/early summer and start college in late summer/early fall. Scary, right? I thought so, but I honestly think I'm more excited than scared.

I'm excited to start studying and learning things that will actually have to do with what I want to do when I grow up.

Hopefully I'll spend a good amount of my free time either doing school work or working out. And hopefully there'll still be some time for me to hang out with friends and/or do stage crew and school clubs, among other things.

So here I am, a high school senior looking forward to college...[even] if that college is a community college, it's OK because I'll be in college.

So, one time a duck walked into a bar...

Well, I guess the duck would actually waddle into a bar. That's besides the point though.

I've back in school since some time in September. I like my classes so far and being a senior's kind of going to my head. That's bad news. Especially since I'm ready to NOT go to school around here, but whatever.

I feel like there was something I actually wanted to blog about with this post, but I forgot. Maybe I'll remember another time and blog about it in a different post.

Story Time!!

So...I decided I should tell a story but I don't know what the story should be about.
I'll just wing it. Hurrah improvising!!

Once upon a time...

OK. Well, I tried and that's all I could come up with that I didn't want to legitimately publish in a legitimate book for myself. I'm sorry for the false hope.

From canoeing to family, I cover it all.

I'm on a canoe team that meets for two (2) months out of the year.
We have a river training trip. Usually on Mother's Day weekend. This year (and next year) that is not the case.
We race in on race in on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend.

I put up a previous post mentioning the team.
This team is like family to me.

I have many groups of people that I consider my family.:

I have my Girl Scout family.
I have my canoeing family. (A branch on the tree that is my Girl Scout family)

I have my music family.
I have my chorus family. (A branch on the tree that is my music family)

I have my theater family.
I have my stage crew family. (A branch on the tree that is my theater family)
I have my The Wiz family. (A branch on the tree that is my theatre family)

I have my art family.
I have my photo family. (A branch on the tree that is my art family)

I have multiple summer camp families.

And of course, I have my flesh and blood.
I also have my friends, who are like brothers and sisters to me. (My friends are basically like flesh and blood to me and I am able to say that all of the people in this big family, my friends, fit into one of the smaller families)

Day Of Silence

Yesterday was the National Day Of Silence. I participated at my school. It was an amazing experience, as usual.

Unfortunately, my school did something different for Day Of Silence last year. Last year we did Day-Olauge of Gay-Olauge. We did Day Of Silence this year and two years ago, though. I hope we do Day Of Silence next year too.

Day Of Silence has a large effect because people want to know why there are people around them that are not speaking. On top of that, it's an amazing experience.

I always like to see who is participating and who is wearing the stickers that say: Not silent, but supportive
I tend to do this just because I like to see the amount of people in school who are supportive and accepting of us LGBTQ folks.

Support/accept LGBTQ people?: You're AWESOME and COOL.
Don't support/accept LGBTQ people?: You're STUPID. Go get an education.

Passover 3

Passover ended yesterday at sunset, so I'm back to eating the usual stuff.
Like donuts and ravioli.

That's actually really exciting after not being able to eat that stuff for 8 days.
So, I'm pretty happy with my diet going back to normal.

:D :D :D :D :D :D!!

Passover 2

As I said in my last post, I don't like Passover. It's oh-so-very restrictive.

The upside is that I get to go into Brooklyn and see some family.
I love my family. We don't get together that often, but when we do it's always a good time.
I'm happy that I'll be able to spend some time with them over the break.

Passover

Passover's coming up.

I can't eat certain things during Passover.
These things include but are not limited to:
Corn products (corn, anything with high fructose corn syrup, anything with corn syrup in general)
Yeast products (like bread, cake, cookies, cereal, any type of pasta)
And other things too!!

The majority of what I eat during Passover is Matzah with or with out kosher for Passover jam. There is the occational fruit of course, but mainly it's Matzah. It just sucks because it's really hard to find things that are kosher for Passover.

I've never liked Passover. Partly because I'm more often than not the youngest person at the sader. That means I have to read/sing the dreaded Four Questions that the youngest person at the sader has to read. I used to read/sing them in Hebrew, but I forgot how to read Hebrew some time after I stopped going to Hebrew School. Now I just read them in English. Reading them in English makes my life so much easier. There's less chance of me messing up this way.

Football v. Potato

If there was a fight between a football and a potato...the potato would win.

There are so many more things that can be done with a potato.
Like...
French Fries
Potato Chips
Mashed Potato
Potato with butter
Potato

But a football...?
Throw
Catch
Kick

Oh yeah. The potato would SO win.
Potato pwns football.

Random Cuts

Sometimes I'll get a cut, and I won't know when or how I got it.
It's kind of annoying actually. *Not. Fun.*
Does this ever happen to any of you??

I'm late, I'm late for a very important date!!

Today I woke up at around 8:03 AM...8:03 AM!! Luckily, my mom was still home, so she was able to give me a ride to school. Unfortunately, she slept in too (I woke her up) so she was late to work. This means she's going to get home from work later than usual.

Well, it just means I may be late, or have to miss, the meeting I usually have with some friends on Tuesdays. *shrug* They probably won't miss me too much. After all, I did miss it last week because of Tech Week rehearsal for The Wiz.

School

I'm currently a junior in high school. There's a lot of pressure this year. What with college research and such.

I am feeling the pressure because of the lack of time I have to do an English essay/research paper. I was unable to make a dent on it at all during The Wiz because of Tech Week and the actual shows. I know it's a lame excuse, but when you're out of the house until 11 PM 7 of 8 days for a school play...there's not really any time do much else.

Stay on top of your school work.

The Wiz 4

So, now that this is all over I'm upset. I miss everything about the show already. By everything, I mean EVERYTHING. Building/painting the sets, Tech Week, performances, cast/stage crew/pit parties. All of it. I'm going to be able to keep in touch with a lot of people from the play, so I'm looking at that as a bright side. In a way, this keeping this thought in mind is keeping me sane.

I loved every single second of this, and I don't regret anything about it. I certainly don't regret doing this. It's the best thing I've done all school year. I'm so happy that I had the opportunity to do this. It was awesome, insane, and amazing among other things.

I personally think that we did pretty well overall, despite some mistakes. Making mistakes is OK here though because this is high school drama, not Broadway.

I'm very excited to be doing this experience again next school year. I'm just upset that this was my first play and that I had not started stage crew earlier.

The road of life.

There are bumps in the road of life. This is just common sense, and everybody has a different way of dealing with these bumps. For me, music usually does the trick. So, every time I feel upset, mad, or whatever...I just listen to some music and I'm all good. Music definitely helps me feel better.

The Wiz 3

It's opening weekend for my school's rendition of The Wiz. We put on a performance for some elementary school kids yesterday, but the shows this weekend are for the general public.

I think I can speak for all involved in this performance when I say that I'm both nervous and excited. I may only be giving sound cues to the sound guy but my job is just as important as everyone else's jobs.

I kind of don't want this experience to end, though. These people are like family to me, no, these people ARE family to me. We have each others backs and all that jazz. That's my take on it anyway. I could be wrong, though.

Rehearsal and stage crew have been really, really fun. I'm so glad that I was able to do this, and I regret that I didn't start earlier in my high school career. It is what it is, and I'll take what I've got. I certainly will be doing stage crew again next school year.

I have a life outside of school?!

Believe it or not, there are things I do outside of school. I amaze even myself, every time I hang out with someone outside of school.

One thing is stage crew. Although the musical is the school's play, I don't consider it part of school. We, the students who do stage crew, are like our own little family. We include the cast, the director, the light guy, the sound guy, the guys that help us build the sets, and the English teacher who oversees it all, part of our family. I care about every single person that has had to do with this musical. It's an amazing experience and I wish I had done stage crew for the school's drama play.

I've been on a canoeing team since I was in 7th grade. The team is called the Kamikaze Kanoers. We're a Girl Scout canoeing team. We're like a family, we've got each others backs. The first 2 years I was on the team, I was unable to race because of lack of strength or a broken finger. Both years, I was upset that I was unable to race. My newbie year on the team, I made this pretty obvious and everyone was concerned. My teammates helped cheer me up, and the next year I made my disappointment less obvious. 2 years ago, I finally was able to race. I actually had a canoeing partner and could race!! Luckily, my canoe partner is a friend of mine. It worked out well for the both of us. So, we raced and got 7th place out of 18 boats in the 2-man 5-mile sprint. Last year, we got 5th place out of 6 boats in the 6-man 15-mile race. In the regatta my team races in, if one were to get in places 1-5 that group would metal. Every group is part of a bigger team. In my case from last year, I was in a 6 person group from the Kamikaze Kanoers team. My canoe partner and I are happy that we metaled, but we want to do better. After all, the only boat behind us from last years race was from our team. That 6-man group was made up of primarily college kids. WE WANT TO DO BETTER THIS YEAR!! So what are we going to do? We're going to get back into training mode.

The Wiz 2

So, I feel like I didn't explain what I wanted to say very well in my last post.

I think a better way to describe is, that it's like a drug and I'm the drug addict. I know that's a slightly sick way to think about it, but that's the best I can come up with right now.

There are a few reasons that I feel this way. One of which is that stage crew is a fun hobby. Also, the people are generally chill, but that's besides the point. That's not just it though. There are other reasons that I enjoy stage crew and rehursal, but the other reasons are unimportant.

"Do what you love, and love what you do."

The Wiz

I joined stage crew at my school a few months ago. We are doing a musical called 'The Wiz'; we do musicals in the Spring and dramas in the Fall.

Now we're preparing for our show, which is this weekend, in full cast and crew rehearsals. We call this Tech Week. An just like the name suggests, we use the week before the show to rehearse the show with the cast and crew to work out all of the kinks. Naturally we want the show to be good, no, great. So, we use this week for the cast and crew to work together to make the show as good as we can.

I've been away from rehearsal for about 3 hours now, and not long after leaving I started going through withdrawals. It's interesting that every time I'm not at rehearsal, I want to be at rehearsal. Part of why I find this interesting is that I am not thinking of going into stage crew as a living at all. Now, I'm not so sure but I'll stick to my original plan of a future in criminal justice. I'll see where that takes me and go from there.

P.S. Just in case you care, I had another mental breakdown today. Including the one I had this past Friday, I've had a total of 2 mental breakdowns. With a close 3rd. The almost 3rd one was a close call. I'm just shocked that I've had this many mental breakdowns in such a short amount of time.

Internet games!!

So, today I was looking for a game to play on the internet. I went to Google, no suprise there, and typed 'arcade games' in the search engine.

Here's a site that I found. http://www.classicgamesarcade.com/

I plan on playing many games on this website. I'm super excited for it actually.

Arcade it up!! :D

OMG! A duck!

OMG! Another post from yours truely!

So where is this duck that everyone, and by everyone I mean me, has been talking about?
I dunno. I dunno where the love is either. Or the bread for that matter.

Maybe the imaginary duck took the imaginary bread. That still doesn't explain where the duck is though. It also doesn't explain where the love is either.

Perhaps none of these three things exist and it's just all in my head. Don't get me wrong, though. I know that there are actually ducks, bread, and love in the world. But maybe I'm just creating false hope for myself; hence the duck, the bread, and the love that I can't find.

I dunno when I'll find these things, or if I'll ever find them. But you can't blame me for trying, right?

Alice in Wonderland

I saw Alice in Wonderland today. It was a really good movie. I saw it in 2D because the tickets for the 3D version at the IMAX were sold out. So, I just saw it at the regular movie theater. It was really good all the same though. I recommend that you go see it if you have not yet.

And now a YouTube video.
(NOTE: Said video has NOTHING to do with Alice in Wonderland.)

I mean, I guess.

This blog is being written really late. I apologize for that.

There's been a decent amount going on today. OMG! I'm not joking right now.

I broke down for a number of reasons today during chorus class, which I have 5th period. There are a number of reasons for this, but I don't want to re-visit it at all. Partly because I don't want to freak out again. partly because I don't want to trouble any of you by listing it all out, and partly for other reasons as well. Some of my friends and my chorus teacher asked me if I was OK, which was really cool of all of them. And a couple of my friends went so far as to try to loan me money, which I refused to do. (I had forgotten to pack my lunch, so that's why they offered.)

I truely love my friends. They are the best people in the world. I would do just about anything for them. Without my friends and music, I think I would go insane.
So, here's to you friends of me! You all rock!

Blogging...at school?

So, this post comes from a computer at my high school. I personally think it's really cool that I can post stuff here from school.

My school blocks almost all of the cool sites, like Facebook for example. They also block e-mail, which is really NOT cool. It makes getting school work to teachers a little bit harder.

It also makes getting information difficult. I missed something that I really wanted to do after school because Facebook is blocked at school.

Well, that's basically it for now.

ZOMG!! I made a blog.

I'm new to the whole blogging thing.

So, basically I'm going to be writing about whatever I want.

I'm going to be writing about whatever strikes my fancy. If any of you have suggestions, let me know. I will certainly take suggestions into consideration.

I'm pretty excited about this blog.
